The Ravens softball team earned a spot in the HAAC Post-season, but faced the top-seeded Central Methodist University Eagles (#23 in NAIA poll) in Fayette, MO on Friday.

The Ravens began the best of 3 series with the early lead, scoring two runs in the fourth inning.  They added to their lead with four more runs in the fifth, but CMU was able to answer in the 6th and 7th with six of their own.  Extra innings decided game 1 as CMU scored in the bottom of the 9th to take the 1-0 series lead. Hannah Dusil (Sr., Kansas City) pitched 6 innings for the Ravens, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, striking out three and walking just one batter.

At the plate, Shianne Busch (Jr., Fairbury, Ill.) led the Ravens with two hits in five at bats with a double and two RBI.  Sarah Laskares (Sr., Spring Hill) was 1-4 with a single and 2 RBI.

Game two, an elimination game, ended in Central Methodist’s favor by the score of 9-1.  The Ravens were the home team for game two in Fayette.  Central Methodist jumped on the Ravens starter, Katelyn Nill (So., Lenexa) with six runs in the second inning.  The Ravens answered with 1 run in the bottom of the 3rd but that was all they could produce.  Nill finished her outing, throwing four innings giving up five earned runs.  The offense was limited to just four hits.  Right-fielder Briana Rombach (So., Washington, MO) had the only two-hit day for the Ravens, both singles.

The double-header loss ended the best of the three series, and the season.  The Ravens head in to the off-season finishing with a record of 13-32 (6-12 HAAC).
